The future and beyond

7.1 Moving the game forward

Instructor question

If you finished the assignments, you should have three valuable things:

  • A completed assignment you can share on Discord for feedback. Acting on feedback is one of the fastest ways to improve.
  • A card game you can keep expanding with the tools from the course. Repeat: add mechanics/systems → playtest → balance → document, until you are happy. It can be a portfolio piece.
  • Knowledge of professional practice: proposal, documentation, balancing, diagramming, testing, and more. You used tools, theories, and techniques working designers use every day.

Keep developing this game, or start a new one from scratch using the same steps.

Gabriel’s tip

Share the finished assignment on Discord if you want instructor and community feedback. See you there: https://discord.gg/VA2M5EHyjj
